It was Ian Futer’s writings in the Railway Modeller that
started my interest in all trains north of the border, and my interest hasn’t
stopped since. An opportunity to spend a
day around Crianlarich and Tyndrum in March 2012 enabled me to ‘stock up’ on
photo’s and gain a better feel for the area.
A kind workman also allowed me close inspection of the road/rail
vehicles they use there.
Also, he indicated that the sidings are Crianlarich are due
for closure, although a plans for a new timber loading facility have been
passed by the local authority, to be installed behind the Crianlarich
Hotel. Seems the possibility of
modelling freight workings in Scotland
may just be improving !
